The First Fairway Woods to Optimize POI for Straighter Miss-Hits

Until now, MOI has been the primary metric used to measure club stability and forgiveness. Cobra is the first brand to introduce and optimize a lesser-known but equally important measurement: POI (Point of Inertia).

POI accounts for clubhead rotation across all three axes—horizontal, vertical, and diagonal twisting—that occurs during off-center impacts. OPTM fairway woods are the first to optimize both MOI and POI through strategic shaping and precise weight placement, dramatically reducing gear effect to deliver tighter dispersion and longer, straighter shots on mishits.

Reshaped for Forgiveness

To optimize MOI and POI, mass is distributed more symmetrically across all three key axes and tightened closer to the center of gravity. This minimizes diagonal resistance to rotation and enhances stability through impact.

Using A.I.-driven simulation tools, Cobra engineers analyzed millions of impact locations to gain a deep understanding of gear effect and determine the optimal placement of internal mass and adjustable weighting in each fairway model.

Titanium Construction with Tungsten

A multi-material construction combines a lightweight 8-1-1 titanium body and face with a carbon crown to improve weight distribution and deliver driver-like distance from the fairway.

Compared to steel, titanium frees up discretionary mass, allowing 37.5 grams of tungsten to be positioned low and forward in the heel and toe. This design optimizes ball speed, launch, and forgiveness across the face.

FutureFit33™ offers 33 unique loft and lie combinations to fine-tune ball flight, reduce miss tendencies, and maximize distance. Loft and lie can be adjusted by ±2 degrees in any direction for precise fitting customization.

The innovative SMARTPAD® design ensures the face angle remains square at address, regardless of hosel setting.

Adjustable Weighting

The OPTM LS fairway wood features an adjustable weighting system with three interchangeable weights (14g, 11g, and 3g). Each weight can be positioned to create neutral, draw-biased, or fade-biased ball flights for precise trajectory control.
