The First Fairway Woods to Optimize POI for Straighter Miss-Hits
Until now, MOI has been the primary measurement used to define club stability and forgiveness. Cobra is the first brand to introduce and optimize a lesser-known but equally important metric: POI (Point of Inertia).
POI accounts for clubhead rotation across all three axes—horizontal, vertical, and diagonal twisting—that occurs during off-center impacts. OPTM fairway woods are the first to optimize both MOI and POI through advanced shaping and strategic weight placement, dramatically reducing gear effect to deliver tighter dispersion and longer, straighter shots on mishits.
Reshaped for Forgiveness
To optimize MOI and POI, mass is distributed more symmetrically across all three key axes and tightened closer to the center of gravity. This minimizes diagonal resistance to rotation and improves overall stability through impact.
Using A.I.-driven simulation tools, Cobra engineers analyzed millions of impact locations to develop a deep understanding of gear effect and determine the optimal placement of internal mass and adjustable weighting in each fairway model.
FutureFit33™ Adjustable Hosel
FutureFit33™ offers 33 unique loft and lie combinations to fine-tune ball flight, reduce miss tendencies, and maximize distance. Loft and lie can be adjusted by ±2 degrees in any direction for precise fitting customization.
The innovative SMARTPAD® design keeps the face angle square at address, regardless of hosel setting.
Adjustable Weighting
The OPTM X fairway wood features an advanced descending weight system with two adjustable weights (11g and 3g). The 11g weight can be positioned in the back to promote higher launch and increased forgiveness, or moved to the toe to create a lower-launch, reduced-spin, more penetrating ball flight.
The OPTM X fairway delivers the ideal balance of speed and forgiveness, giving golfers the confidence to attack every shot from the tee or turf.
